Fiona Weeks Receives Hobbins Award: Spring 2021

Fiona Weeks headshotFiona Weeks has received the Deborah A. Hobbins Graduate Student Award in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice for her project, “Characterizing experiences of facility-based maternity care: Intersections with social identity and trauma.”

Fiona Weeks is a PhD Student in Population Health with a concentration in Health Services Research. She conducts mixed methods research in reproductive health and healthcare. She is particularly interested in labor and delivery care and healthcare factors that contribute to racial health inequities. Her dissertation research is focused on understanding birthing people’s experiences of labor and delivery care, particularly in relation to patient autonomy, and variations in these experiences across intersectional social identities. Her dissertation will center the voices of non-Hispanic black, indigenous and immigrant birthing people in Wisconsin.

Fiona also works for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as the Title V Maternal and Child Health block grant director and principal investigator of the Wisconsin Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS).  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Community Health from Tufts University, and a Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.
